"You should have gone with him!" Miko scolded as Bulkhead lifted her to his shoulder. She thumped the side of his head as an additional admonishment. "It would have been sweet! You two, takin' out 'Cons and—"

"Naw," Bulkhead replied, his voice rumbling in his human partner's audios (more so than usual at least). "Wouldn't have been worth it."

"What are you talking about?" Miko exclaimed. "It would have been so worth it!"

Bulkhead smiled and chuckled, though he knew in his heart of hearts that it was a half-hearted gesture. How could he truly explain to Miko the reason he stayed? How could he ever hope to verbalize that of all the reasons he stayed, of all the ties to which he referred… she was the biggest reason, her tie was the strongest?

He chuckled again, a little more sincerely this time. "Whatever you say, Miko…"
Prompt 60 for the 100 Themes Challenge: Worth It

Based, very loosely hasn’t seen the full episode yet, lol, on episode eight of Transformers Prime, “Con Job.” As described to me by *locoexclaimer Wheeljack (who was awesome, for the record) offered to let Bulkhead be his travelling slash ass-kicking buddy. Bulkhead looks back at everyone else—Prime and the rest of the crew and the humans, including Miko, of whom he’s always been very defensive—and tells him, “My ties are here now—with them. With her.”

OHMYGOD*brain fritzes out, falls over dead mumbling something about Bulkhead x Miko shipping* Thus this piece is a short offshoot of that line.

I think this is the shortest thing I’ve ever seriously written. Sure, I could expand on it, but I like it as is. Normally my flash fiction sucks beyond all reasonable belief.

Yanno, I was totally expecting my first Transformers Prime piece to be Cliffjumper x Arcee ( = Bumblebee optional), so this was a surprise to me. A pleasant surprise, but a surprise nonetheless.

I think I nailed the characterization and the voices—definitely the latter, since I was watching the episode as I wrote, so everything was fresh in my head. Plus, let’s face it: Kevin Michael Richardson has a very distinctive voice.

So very IC. Though I could also see her having a little secret smile from knowing WHY he was staying without stating it. Loved it.
